New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing, in conjunction with Dean McKenzie, is thrilled to announce the establishment of the NZTR McKenzie Future Leaders Scholarship, commencing in November 2023. Jointly funded by NZTR and Dean McKenzie, the Scholarship offers a $10,000 award to support promising students connected to the Thoroughbred racing industry in their educational pursuits. The primary objective is to nurture future leaders for the benefit of New Zealand’s racing industry. The Scholarship aims to support motivated and passionate individuals who aspire to pursue a Commerce or Law degree at a university in New Zealand. Applicants should note this is a onceonly Scholarship of $10,000 (or part thereof) and open to incoming first-year students at the undergraduate level, who can apply on one occasion only (whether successful or not).

Applicants should hold an Honours-level undergraduate degree, and have at least two years’ work experience.

Each the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.

Applicants must have been studying an agricultural and/or veterinary course for at least one year, either full-time or part-time at a NZ Polytech or University.
Applicants must be from the Bay of Plenty Federated Farmers Region which includes the following District Council areas: Western Bay of Plenty, Whakatane, Opotiki, Kawerau and Tauranga City Council.
Applicants must have attended a Primary or Secondary School in the Bay of Plenty Federated Farmers Region
It does not include Rotorua or Taupo District Councils areas.

Scholarships are available for Masters students in the field of quantitative marine science, particularly stock assessment modelling or ecosystem modelling. We encourage you to apply if you have a major or minor in mathematics, statistics, computing or biology. Applicants with a strong quantitative (particularly applied statistics) or computer programming background, combined with marine biology will be favoured.

Women of any nationality, who, are enrolled in an accredited PhD/doctoral program in a qualifying area of science or engineering, closely related to advanced studies in aerospace-related science or aerospace-related engineering, are eligible to apply (students pursuing a postdoctoral research program are not eligible). Applicants must demonstrate a superior academic record at a recognized university or college with accredited courses in aerospace-related studies as verified by official transcripts and recommendations. To apply, applicants must provide evidence of a well-defined research program in aerospace-related science or aerospace-related engineering and clearly demonstrate the relationship of your research to aerospace.

The Bashford-Nicholls Trust, managed by BAF, has scholarships available for tertiary (vocational or undergraduate) and post-graduate (Masters or PhD) students. For tertiary students awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 per year and for post-graduate students from $13,000 to $20,000 per year.
The scholarships are for those studying, or planning to study, agriculture or veterinary science or undertaking post-graduate research in these areas.

The Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation offers several grants on an annual basis to support research relevant to the archaeology of the Near East. Funding may be provided for but is not limited to: research in museums; fieldwork, if associated with primary research; in person or on-line paper presentations at conferences, and associated fees; costs of sample processing; costs of open access publication. All grants may include, where appropriate, funding for travel.
Applications are open to Honours students, students undertaking a Higher Degree and post-doctoral Early Career researchers. Applicants should be attached to an Australian or New Zealand University as a student, researcher, tutor, research assistant, or affiliate, or have held such a position within the last ten years.

We welcome applications from scholars whose postgraduate study will begin in 2023. BRANZ funds scholarships for university students with outstanding academic credentials to undertake post-graduate research in the building and construction sector.

Examples of current scholars’ research topics include: low-carbon construction, sustainable building, home maintenance, environmental resilience and mental health and wellbeing.
Allocations are $20,000 for a Masters Research thesis, or up to $25,000 p.a. (for up to three years) for a PhD.

The Livestock Improvement Patrick Shannon Scholarship Programme is named after one of the most remarkable and innovative bovine geneticists and reproductive biologists in the world. Dr Shannon joined Livestock Improvement in the mid-1950s, and made a variety of world-breaking discoveries, which continue to provide vitality and profitability to the New Zealand dairy industry.

The offer provides $5,000 towards your Halls of Residence or Living Costs in your first year of university and $5,000 towards your course fees for the remaining years of your undergraduate degree (up to a maximum of three years).

The Clark Fletcher Memorial Citrus Bursary is an award of up to $5,000 per annum that is granted to either a tertiary student who has a specific interest in the citrus industry, or an applicant who is involved in research that is likely to contribute to the New Zealand citrus industry.

Scholarships are available for undergraduate students interested in an Honours year or doing a double-major in:
- Biology or marine biology, with
- Mathematics, computing or statistics.
Up to six scholarships with a value of $5,000 will be available to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents to support an Honours year or the final year of an undergraduate degree. Students will be eligible to apply if their degree will include:
- A minimum of one statistics, mathematics or computer programming course in 2nd year, and
- Two statistics, mathematics or computer programming courses, as well as a marine biology course in 3rd year

The funds for this award are provided by the Loman Friedlander family. The Award is made annually to the person who submits the best paper on any subject falling within the general area of Intellectual Property Law (i.e. patents, trademarks, registered designs, copyright). The Meat Industry Association (MIA) Scholarship Programme was established in 2017 to provide a pathway for undergraduate and graduate students to pursue a career in the New Zealand Red Meat Processing Industry.
The New Zealand meat industry is one of New Zealand’s largest industries, exporting over $10 billion worth of product annually and employing more than 24,000 people. In the past three decades the industry has transformed itself, developing new products, adopting new technologies and automating production, and selling to new overseas markets. To grow in future, the industry needs ambitious and highly skilled people.
The main purpose of the scholarship is to provide a pathway for tertiary students (Level 5-7 and above) into the New Zealand meat processing industry. The programme recruits highly skilled young people who have the potential to become future leaders in the meat processing and export industry.
We offer a number of undergraduate and post-graduate scholarships every year, with an award of $5000 a year for each year of study for undergraduates, and $10,000 a year for each year of study for post graduates.
Prospective Scholars should note that an industry-based project or part-time/vacation work in the meat industry is a requirement of the programme.

The Women's Studies Association (NZ) / Pae Akoranga Wāhine is offering two awards of $1,500 each to help fund research projects that engage with and reflect its aims of promoting radical social change through the medium of women's studies. One award is open to Māori women, while the second is open to all women. Women's groups may also apply, for either award.
The application on the website has yet to be updated but it is for 2022 and the value of the Awards is S1,500 for 2022.
