Medical Research Centre
Our goal is to be a world-class center of excellence in medical research, supporting both clinical care and community health.
Collaborative Health Research: Improving outcomes for all New Zealand
The Medical Research Centre is a collaborative effort between the University of Waikato and Waikato District Health Board. We’re dedicated to supporting clinical academics in answering vital research questions that impact our community. Through groundbreaking research, we’re working to improve health outcomes for patients and families throughout the Waikato region and beyond.
The Medical Research Centre is a leading centre for epidemiological cancer research working with cancer experts at Waikato Hospital and across the region. The centre is also known for its research in primary care, rural health, and diabetes, working closely with many local general practices.
We aim to be an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for medical research, complementing our health partners’ reputation for providing world-class clinical care.
