Particle Size Analysis

The team at University of Waikato use the Malvern Mastersizer 3000 to measure particle size in a large variety of sample types.

We deliver verifiable particle sizing performance that you can rely on with measurements in the size range: 0.01 - 3500 μm.*

Particle size and particle size distribution of materials are measured using the technique of laser diffraction. The intensity of light scattered is measured as a laser beam passes through a dispersed particulate sample. Data produced is then analysed to calculate the size of the particles that created the scattering pattern. The particle size distribution is calculated using the Mie Theory. The particle size is reported as a volume equivalent sphere diameter.

Results

Result reports can be customised to your classification or needs. These can be sent as PDFs or exported to Excel or CSV.

*Repeatability is better than 0.5%, dependent on sample and sample preparation. 0.6% accuracy for polystyrene latex standard measurements.
