Why did you decide choose to study at Waikato?

I chose New Zealand as it’s renowned for being an adventurous and nature-based country. The University of Waikato is ranked in the top 300 Universities in the QS Rankings, and it has a good reputation for Information Technology. Plus, Hamilton is a peaceful place to live with lots of nice scenery.

What has been the highlight of your time here so far?

The extraordinary support from my lecturers, who are all extremely knowledgeable. I’ve also really enjoyed the 24/7 lab facilities and library which keep me busy and focussed.

During my studies, I did an internship at Hill Laboratories, where I worked on practical projects such as updating the technology for their customer portal. It was a great feeling knowing that my work was actually being used by the company.

What did a typical day of study look like for you?

My wife and young son live here with me in Hamilton. I would always start the day with classes and end the day with my family, which is very special and gave me a great study-life balance.

What’s your number one tip for making the most of uni life?

Utilise the library for peaceful and quiet study. Don’t hesitate to contact the lecturers if you have any doubts – they are there to help.

What are you doing now that you’ve finished your Masters?

After I finished my Masters I received a few job offers and now work with Downer New Zealand Ltd as a Solutions Architect.

Anything else to add?

I strongly recommend the University of Waikato to any international students who are looking to excel in their field. Waikato provides a great environment, talented lecturers, and strong work life balance.
