The scholarship is open to second year tertiary students and above (including Honours and Masters) intending to take a full-time course of study in science, technology, computer engineering, mathematics, data science and cyber security at any New Zealand tertiary institution. The value of this award is $10,000, which can be spread over three years depending on your study plans.

This supports people with paraplegia and physical disabilities or those working in this field in undertaking or furthering a course of tertiary study. The Trust objectives are:
- The welfare and rehabilitation of paraplegic and disabled persons,
- Research relating to the same.
- Buildings, equipment and facilities relating to the same.
- Re-establishment or integration of paraplegic and disabled persons into the life and work of the community.
- The mental and physical needs of paraplegic and disabled persons.
- The training of persons to carry out any of the foregoing.

John A.E. Britton Scholarship
The funds for this scholarship are provided by the income from a bequest made by the late John Britton, from Otaki. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funds for individuals to undertake research at a New Zealand or Australian university in the area of mental health. Preference may be given to research into alcohol and drug addiction. The scholarship award will be valued at up to $15,000 per annum and may be used in any way that helps the scholar to meet the purposes of the award.

The Māori Cancer Researcher Awards 2024 are for researchers who are committed to hauora Māori, maximising Māori cancer health gains, addressing existing cancer inequities, and/or fostering Māori health aspirations. We value applications that include kaupapa Māori and mātauranga Māori.
To be eligible, you must:
- Be of Māori descent
- Be resident in Aotearoa New Zealand

- Intend to enrol or already be enrolled in a Research Masters or PhD. Those who have not yet enrolled for their proposed course of study but are intending to do so may apply for this scholarship. This scholarship is to encourage research in relevant disciplines (entomology, plant pathology, weed science, zoology, ecology, and plant protection sciences), on topics relating to control of pests, pathogens and / or weeds in primary production (pastoral and arable agriculture, horticulture, forestry), or the natural or human
environments.
Students enrolled at New Zealand Universities or registered in other recognised New Zealand tertiary institutions will be considered. The value of the scholarship is up to $3,500. Recipients will be encouraged to become members of the Society and present a paper about their research to one of the Society’s
conferences.

The Trust supports research projects I the fields of agriculture, agriculture-based technologies and the study of rural society. Open to postgraduate students undertaking research projects. Study Area: Agriculture, Arable, Red Meat and Wool, Dairy and Technology. Funds may be granted to provide technical, travel, consumables, sample testing, or other support for established researchers.

In September each year researchers in the neuromuscular field and postgraduate students are invited to apply for research funding. There is limited funding available and a range of guidelines to assist applicants and trustees with the application and grant making process.
Applicants should note that translational research that aims to improve health outcomes for New Zealanders with neuromuscular conditions will be given priority.
Research of a preliminary nature with the intention of developing further proposals for substantial financial support from elsewhere will also be considered.

The grant provides free thesis editing for one Masters and one PhD student (domestic or international) per year. There is no limit on the amount of words in the thesis, as long as the thesis meets the students’ departments’ word limit.
The thesis must be for a postgraduate degree for an Australian or New Zealand university.

The New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society are currently taking applications for He Manawā ā whenua. This scholarship is open to Māori students studying a Bachelor Honours Degree (or equivalent) or Master’s Degree with a focus on freshwater ecosystems. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage Māori students to pursue a research career and develop their capability in freshwater ecology and/or kaupapa Māori research surrounding wai.

This scholarship is to support postgraduate research to gain a deeper understanding of any aspect of freshwater environments in Aotearoa. The research may include fundamental or applied science, mātauranga Māori, engineering, law, economics or any other field of relevance in freshwater management and protection. The scholarship is available to Masters and Honours degree candidates, tenable for the year in which they will undertake their thesis or dissertation research. Preference will be given to applicants who have limited financial resources, who may otherwise not be able to undertake or continue post-graduate study.

The Dorothy Neal White Collection (11,000 books), in the National Library of New Zealand, is a research collection of children’s books that were enjoyed by young New Zealanders in the century before 1940. The National Children’s Collection (124,000 books) contains children’s books published since 1940. Both collections contain picture books, fiction and non-fiction books published in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand and the Pacific, and the United States of America. In addition, the DNW Collection contains a number of children’s annuals and serials.
The Friends of the Dorothy Neal White Collection (http://www.dnwfriends.nzl.org/) established this research grant to encourage students to use these collections in their research. The collections are housed in the National Library of New Zealand, corner of Molesworth and Aitken Streets, Wellington.

This Scholarship is available to students of Polish origin. The Trustees must be satisfied that the applicant was born in Poland or that at least one of his or her direct ancestors was born in Poland. For this purpose, ‘born in Poland’ means born within the geographical limits of the country known as Poland, either at the time of your birth, or as at 31 December 1921, or 28 May 1984.
Applicants must be enrolled or intending to be enrolled for an approved course of study at a New Zealand university. The Trustees shall determine both who shall be awarded the scholarship and also the value of each award. They will consider the following criteria: the past scholastic record of the applicant; the aptitude and suitability of the applicant for their proposed course of study; the financial needs of the applicant; the interest of the applicant in, and his or her contribution to the Polish community in New Zealand such other matters as they consider relevant.

He Whenua Taurikura National Centre of Research Excellence was established in 2022 in response to recommendation 14 of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report into the terrorist attack on Christchurch masjidain.
He Whenua Taurikura promotes and supports research that contributes to understanding, countering and preventing violent extremism as well as research that contributes to improving social cohesion and community safety. Applications are sought from a broad range of disciplinary and transdisciplinary/multidisciplinary backgrounds. Applications are open to students enrolled in or eligible to enrol in a relevant degree at a New Zealand university or tertiary institute. The Masters Research Scholarship has a value is $15,000 and the PhD Scholarship has a value of $40,000 stipend annually plus domestic tuition fees for up to three years.

A $5,000 grant will be offered annually to one lucky student enrolled full-time in an accredited New Zealand Tertiary Education Institution, and that are studying for a certificate, diploma, degree, or traineeship, in any of the following areas:
- Aged Care
- Aged Care Nursing
- Dementia Care
- Disabilities Care
- Any other courses leading to similar careers as an aged carer.

The Foundation exists to support and encourage medical research within the Waikato region and to assist the publication of the results of this research. Projects funded are expected to be completed within a 12-month time frame. The level of support offered to particular projects will be dependent upon the quality of research proposals and the availability of funds.
As limited funding is available to the Trustees, partial funding may be offered as a grant-in aid for larger projects (to a maximum of $30,000).

The scholarships are to subsidise study at a tertiary level in any field related to agri-business or the primary sector – but aren’t limited to on-farm and farm advisory roles. Blue Lagoon Hearing Trust was established to promote the interests and the general welfare of the hard of hearing and Deaf persons in our community. These enable adults, youth, hearing impaired, deaf or hearing individuals or persons working in fields of hearing impairment or deafness to undertake studies that benefit hearing impaired or deaf people within the Tauranga, Mount Maunganui or Papamoa area. The total Scholarship fund is worth $5,000 per year.

- One scholarship will be awarded annually.
- The value of this scholarship is $10,000, with 50% of the grant to be paid on commencement of studies with the remaining 50% at successful year end.
- As part of this scholarship the successful applicant will complete up to three weeks work placement with the Taranaki Daily News throughout the year, providing invaluable real-world experience and mentorship.
- Applications open 1 September and close 31 October each year. Grants are awarded at the start of the following academic year.
