This paper will allow further indepth study linked to tikanga Maori as an avenue of resistance or resilience in present day contexts. It highlights the application of tikanga as an avenue for addressing, principally, the concepts of identity (mana), turangawaewae (place connections) and rangatiratanga (sovereignty).
