This paper, together with TEPS704, expands frames of reference to look at broader social, cultural, political and economic forces that profoundly influence education, together with an exploration of both teacher and learner identities and aspirations. These ideas form three strands in each of the two papers - the teacher and teaching, the learner and learning, and 'threads and needles' (an exploration of diverse educational contexts). This paper introduces teaching and learning and focuses on curriculum contexts.
