This paper introduces students to the learning area of Ngā Toi in Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Students have the opportunity to: critique, extend and strengthen their own knowledge and understandings of ngā toi o nehera; Ngā Pou o Ngā Toi; actively explore the use of verbal and non-verbal conventions and techniques; make informed decisions through the development of expressive ideas and engagement with nuances of Ngā Toi. This paper builds on sound pedagogical practices to support learners in Māori medium education settings to elicit embodied understandings of Ngā Toi.
