This paper introduces students to the traditional customs and practices of Maori, and subsequent changes to those traditions and practices influenced by colonisation. Main themes covered in this paper deal with Maori world views, from the creation to today, and how these beliefs have shaped Maori values and practices. Another prominent theme will be colonisation, the processes and practices and its impact on Maori on a cultural, socio-economic and spiritual level.
