Comparative law is the critical study and comparison of legal systems and structures outside the domestic system (in this case New Zealand). In this paper students will be introduced to the theory and practice of comparative law before briefly examining the broad families of legal systems that occur around the globe. Students will also study a number of selected comparative case studies taken from both public and private law.
