This paper reviews Maori geographical perspectives within the context of colonisation and globalisation. It also provides an opportunity for students to undertake research on a topic of relevance to Maori using appropriate methodologies. Students will be expected to analyse the relationships between Maori communities and government agencies who manage natural resources and participate in Treaty Settlement and Waitangi Tribunal Processes. Discourse associated with the impact upon Maori of other government policies and processes will also be critiqued.
