The University of Waikato is a consistent climber in the most prestigious international rankings. We've risen to 235th in the world and #1 in New Zealand for research (measured by citations per faculty member) in the QS World University Rankings. 11 of our subjects rank in the top 350 globally.

We provided New Zealand’s first connection to the internet in 1989 and have continued to lead the way since.

Flexible degree structures mean students can choose a qualification that combines interests with career goals. If you wish, you can do a double major or a conjoint degree. A double major is where you study one degree but focus on two different subjects in depth within that degree. A conjoint degree is best suited to those wanting to study two very distinct fields, e.g. science and management.

Our picturesque campuses have everything students need during their studies - a library, lecture theatres, student support services, cafés, banks, a gym and swimming pools are located on campus or close to it.
