University of Waikato students/staff in Hamilton can borrow AV equipment. Tauranga students/staff contact Tauranga ITS via Kuhukuhu. Some equipment is for Screen & Media students only.
Collecting Equipment
AV Equipment can be collected from:
- Hamilton: the library desk located on level 2 of Te Manawa, during open hours.
- Tauranga: ITS will contact you once your booking is confirm.

Cameras
Panasonic AC-90 Video camera capable of video recording to 1080HD Video standard.A complex camera, intended for experienced users or Media students with instruction.
- Built in camera microphone and 2x XLR microphone inputs for good quality audio.
- Some are supplied with 16GB Media card (Do not remove) capable of 4+hrs video recording.
- Kit comes with High-quality Fluid head tripod as standard.
- Kit Includes Battery charger, 2x batteries, external power pack.

Canon EOS-90D DSLR camera configured for “High end” Video. Capable of up to 4K UHD video recording (default set to 1080HD). A complex camera, intended for experienced users or Media students with instruction. Capable of taking still, photographs, but this kit is optimised for video recording.
- 18-35mm lens fitted, compatible with other Canon DSLR lenses.
- 128GB Media card installed (Please do not remove)
- Equipped with Saramonic on-camera Microphone and audio mixer. Dual XLR + minijack microphone inputs.
- Kit comes with High-quality Fluid head tripod as standard.
- Kit includes Battery charger, 2 camera batteries and 1x Audio mixer battery.

- Do Not remove the audio mixer assembly.
- Ensure audio mixer is turned OFF after use.

Camera Lenses
Lighting
2000W Halogen Spotlight (Industry name “Blonde”) for Video production. Very high intensity. Focusable and equipped with Barn Doors.
- Comes with heavy duty stand.
User Note:
- Be aware of power ratings - this light can be the only one on the power circuit.
- Lamp gets very hot; keep away from flammable items.
- Handle with care - do not move when hot, allow to cool. Do not touch the bulb.

Small Tungsten Halogen spot light with stand. White light, variable in intensity and focus. Equipped with Barn doors to control spill.
User Note:
- Lamp can get very hot.

Fluorescent general-purpose video light. Single fixture with 2x tubes with heavy-duty stand. Provides a medium - strength, even white light. Intensity is variable. Daylight and Tungsten colour temperature tubes provided. Diffuser panel. Mains powered, Low power consumption and low temperature. Ideal for shooting in small rooms.
User Note:
- Alternative Tubes (Daylight or tungsten colour temperature) in base of case. Ensure tubes are pushed in securely (Red button to release).

3x LED Fresnel lights with stands. Low power consumption with medium - high light output. Mains powered.
- White light only, but colour temperature and intensity can be varied. Focus adjustable and barn doors fitted to control spill.
- Mains power extension leads also available.

- Consider weighting stands with Sand bags in risky situations.

Tripod
A heavier multi-purpose camera tripod, provides a more stable support than lightweight tripods and smoother pan - tilt.
- Has mount plate that attaches to any camera using standard screw thread.
- Friction lock head with variable height adjustment.
- Suitable for DSLR cameras or small video cameras.
User Note:
- Recommended for video filming with small video cameras or DSLRs.
- Remove mount plate from camera and replace on tripod after use.

Small, extra-lightweight multi-purpose camera tripod. Has mount plate that attaches to any camera using standard screw thread.
- Friction lock head.
- Suitable for DSLR cameras. Due to the lightweight construction, these tripods flex when moving, so are less suitable for active video shooting.

- Can be used to record mono audio recordings with very little setup time.
- Kit comes with a USB lead, pop filter, desk stand, and operation manual.

- The use of this equipment requires audio recording software to be installed on the computer it will be connected to.
- Please return kit in the same state as it was received by user.

Unplug Sound Grabber microphone when not in use.
