Dr Lisa Tompson and Dr Pounamu Jade Aikman have successfully obtained funding from the Marsden Fund, administered by the Royal Society Te Apārangi. With Dr Apriel Jolliffe Simpson and Professor Devon Polaschek, our researchers will examine crime causation with an Indigenous approach, focusing on rangatahi tāne Māori (young Māori men) affected by crime. They will use the Māori health framework Te Whare Tapa Whā to identify ways of reducing harm within our communities.
