About this opportunity
Nick Munn and Dan Weijers have an ongoing research project broadly focused on virtual worlds.
In particular, we are interested in what kinds of things people are actually doing, when they act in virtual spaces. This has implications for a range of issues: Are friendships we make or pursue online as valuable as friendships in person? Are friendships with AI valuable in the same way as friendships with other humans? How ought we to consider the value of friendships in virtual spaces?
The project also has implications for our online behaviour more generally: are virtual actions meaningfully real, and if so, how do they differ from physical actions? Can we ascribe moral value to our virtual actions in ways that translate simply from physical action?
