The University of Waikato is welcoming a new face to its leadership team, with Anthony Robertson joining as Director of Finance on 12 June.
Anthony is currently the Executive Director of Corporate Services at Toi Ohomai Te Pūkenga, and for the past two years has also held the role of Executive Director - Finance at Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT).
He’s bringing 20 years of tertiary education and leadership experience in New Zealand and the UK to Waikato, and takes up the role in place of Marc Scott, the University’s current Director of Finance, who is moving to Braemar Hospital as Chief Financial Officer.
University of Waikato Chief Operating Officer, Jim Mercer, says Anthony is highly respected in the tertiary sector for his strategic direction and ability to motivate people and teams towards a common goal.
Most recently, Anthony has been involved in guiding EIT through its response to the Cyclone Gabrielle floods, and over the past couple of years has played a key role in a number of workstreams to establish the new national network of polytechnics, Te Pūkenga, and leading Toi Ohomai as one of the first organisations to join the new network.
“Anthony’s deep understanding of the tertiary landscape, along with his leadership and people-centric approach, governance and transformation experience will be hugely valuable to the University,” says Jim.
Last year Anthony was recognised for his outstanding contribution to accounting, receiving his designation as a Fellow of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.
