University of Waikato strengthens global ties with new partnerships in India

The signing of two MoUs marks the beginning of two exciting collaborations with universities based in India.

The University of Waikato has taken a significant step in strengthening its global academic ties through newly signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Bennett University (Uttar Pradesh) and Symbiosis International (Deemed University, Pune).  

The signing of these MoUs marks the beginning of two exciting collaborations and further enhances the education relationship between New Zealand and India.  

University of Waikato Vice-Chancellor, Professor Neil Quigley, emphasised the significance of the agreements. 

“These partnerships further demonstrate the University of Waikato’s dedication to providing world-class education and creating meaningful global academic connections. We are excited about the opportunities these collaborations will bring for students and staff alike. 

“The partnerships are a testament to our shared vision of academic excellence and global connectivity,” says Professor Quigley. 

India remains a powerhouse in the global education sector, boasting one of the largest and most diverse education systems worldwide.  

Symbiosis International (Deemed University), renowned for its multidisciplinary approach and vibrant learning ecosystem, brings together students from 85 different countries. The partnership will see the development of dual and joint degree programmes, exchange of academic and scholarly resources, and joint research initiatives, further enhancing the global learning experience for students from both institutions.

Bennett University offers industry-focused education in engineering, management, law, media and liberal arts all within a high-tech, modern infrastructure. This expanded partnership will provide students with access to international learning experiences, diverse academic perspectives, and enhanced career opportunities through the development of pathway programmes and immersive short programmes both in India and New Zealand.

New Zealand Prime Minister, Rt Hon Christopher Luxon, welcomed the partnerships, highlighting the broader benefits to both New Zealand and India.
