Welcome to Waikato, previously known as Academic Orientation, is a programme of events and activities held before and during the start of semester, designed so you get the best out of University study.

| Welcome to Waikato | 17–21 February 2025 | Essential presentations hosted on campus with all the information and support you need to know for your first year as a University student, as well as plenty of fun activities throughout the week and beyond. This week is specifically designed to help you settle into University study. |
| Orientation | 24–28 February 2025 |
Hosted by the Waikato Students’ Union, Orientation is a chance for you to have fun and make connections with other students. There will be activities, competitions and prizes up for grabs. Check out the WSU Facebook and Tauranga WSU pages for more information. |
| Kick-Ons | 3–7 March 2025 |
New for 2025, Kick-Ons is all about social sports and making connections. Hosted by the Waikato Students’ Union. |
