Get ready to embark on a delightful nautical adventure as Cantando Choir proudly presents a concert version of the beloved operetta, HMS Pinafore, by the iconic duo Gilbert and Sullivan.
HMS Pinafore, a satirical take on class and love, tells the story of Josephine, the captain’s daughter, who finds herself torn between her duty to her aristocratic suitor and her love for a lowly sailor, Ralph Rackstraw. With memorable melodies, witty narration, and vibrant characters, this operetta is a joyful celebration of love that transcends social status.
Music Director Kolitha Jayatunge brings a fresh vision to this classic, blending traditional elements with a modern twist.
The talented cast features Venessa Joyce as Josephine, David Holmes as Captain Corcoran, Ian Campbell as Sir Joseph Porter K.C.B., Jane Martin as Little Buttercup and Sally Rosenberg as Cousin Hebe. The concert will be accompanied by Jonathan Dunlop on piano.
Don’t miss this chance to experience one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most cherished works! We look forward to welcoming you aboard the HMS Pinafore!
