This paper will explore the social arrangements that surround dying and death. This includes societal attitudes toward death and dying, types of death, the care provided for people dying, and the relationship of gender, sexuality, class, ethnicity and age to dying and death. Special attention will be paid to dying and death in Aotearoa New Zealand.
