The main purpose of this paper is to equip and encourage students to undertake original research projects in history. Students will learn to think both creatively and critically about the possibilities of constructing social and cultural histories of Aotearoa/New Zealand and develop writing skills which signal problematisation of the historical knowledge that may be claimed about such histories.
