In this paper, participants will participate in the Canada and British Columbia's First Nations Communities Study Tour. They will gain an understanding of how Canadian First Nations are being proactive in developing sustainable international business relationships, particularly with China, and of Canadian First Nations international business strategies in the context of the New Zealand experience. They will identify how Canadian First Nations are building capacity to be able to interact with and capitalise on Chinese business opportunities, and significant cultural differences and similarities between Canadian and New Zealand indigenous cultures and between China and how these impact on "doing business". Participants will also learn how to discuss the importance of international business to Indigenous self determination and economic development, and appreciate the growing importance of the Asian economy and the potential impact of China on global economic development.
