This paper aims to extend student understanding of key concepts, principles and methods relevant to Māori environmental management. Students who complete this paper will be expected to show an understanding or Māori perspectives on environmental management and be aware of the diversity within the Māori world. The paper has a focus on Māori and the Resource Management Act (RMA) and provides students with an understanding of co-management, partnership and collaboration with hapū and iwi in contemporary environmental management. Students will be expected to demonstrate communication skills necessary to facilitate Māori environmental planning.
