AV Equipment FAQs
You can book equipment online using our equipment list. You can also contact us.
Please be aware that all equipment is subject to demand and we recommend you book equipment as soon as possible.
There is some equipment that you can request if you are not a Screen & Media student or staff member. If you are a non-Screen & Media student, you are able to request the Handy Cam, the M200 mirrorless cameras, dictaphones, and digital transcribers. These items can be used for assignments, research, etc.
We recommend that you book your equipment as soon as you can, as all booking availability is subject to demand. We recommend at least one day before you need the equipment. We accept walk-ins, however, we cannot guarantee the availability of equipment if you book on the same day you need it.
Yes - just contact us by email, phone, or in person. However, we won’t be able to renew your items if they have been requested by other users.
You can either browse our equipment list or search for the equipment you need on Library Search.
If you need advice or help with using equipment, please contact ITS by phone (07) 838 4008 or email at help@waikato.ac.nz. We also provide printed instruction manuals that come with all items.
Check out our Using the Audiovisual Equipment info.
Please be aware that you will be responsible for damages that occur while equipment is on loan. Equipment on loan is NOT covered by the University Insurance, so ensure that you have suitable insurance coverage before borrowing equipment or you could be financially liable.
For more information, read our Terms and Conditions of Loan.
We keep equipment on hold for one day and then return them to be booked by others. You can contact us if you would like to change or adjust your booking. Keep in mind that other users may have booked the equipment.
For heavy equipment or large amounts of equipment, you can park in the University Security car park for easier access to the building. Ensure that you bring a support person to carry items when needed. You can contact us if you have any further questions about accessibility.
No, you will only be fined for failing to return any recalled equipment. We are dedicated to removing barriers to accessing the resources that you need. We ask that you are mindful of others who also borrow equipment. Please contact us if you have any questions.
