Vice-Chancellor Professor Neil Quigley is encouraging those who are in a position to do so, to support the University's 2022 Annual Appeal.

The University of Waikato has launched its Annual Appeal for 2022, this year focusing on support for student scholarships, nursing graduates, and budding opera stars.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Neil Quigley says the University of Waikato is proud to be associated with an alumni community that supports its vision: a commitment to the generation of knowledge and its application for the betterment of society, the sustainable development of our environment, and the creation of pathways to successful study for all of our students.

"The University owes its existence to a community that fought hard for its establishment in 1964. We have a history of succeeding despite adversity. Now more than ever New Zealand needs its young people to realise and live their potential, and for universities so support them in making an impact."

The 2022 Appeal includes three specific areas where donations will make a big impact. Donors can choose to contribute to one or more specific funds, with every gift making a huge difference.

Donors can support scholarships for students, which remove barriers to study and enable students to realise and achieve their potential, a fund to help promising opera students, and a fund to support nursing graduates as they work to meet New Zealand's critical shortage of staff.

"We are extremely grateful for the support of our alumni, friends, and community who play a pivotal role in helping us achieve our vision," says Professor Quigley.

"When you donate to the University of Waikato, you are contributing to the skills and effort needed to support the development of the knowledge base that is needed for the advancement of society. If you are in a position to do so, please consider supporting this year's appeal by donating to the University of Waikato."
