Te Mata Kairangi School of Graduate Research invites you to register for the University of Waikato 3MT Doctoral Heats.

The Three Minute Thesis Competition challenges doctoral candidates to present their theses using language appropriate to a non-specialist audience, in just three minutes and using just one PowerPoint slide. The presentation should address the following questions:

  • What are you researching?
  • Why are you researching this topic?
  • What are the values or outcomes of your research?

Through this competition, candidates will gain valuable experience in discussing and communicating effectively to a wide variety of audiences, both academic and non-academic, including the wider community.

All currently enrolled University of Waikato Doctoral (active PhD and Professional Doctorate (Research)) candidates who have reached Confirmed Enrolment (Part 2 EdD, SJD, DHSc), as well as those who are under examination are eligible to enter.

The University of Waikato 3MT Doctoral Heats will be held on Thursday 4 July 2024 at 9.00am in The Pā, Hamilton Campus. The Doctoral Heats finalists will then move on to compete in the Doctoral Final and have the chance to win cash prizes.
