The University of Waikato is excited to host NASA Mars Exploration Rover replica ‘Opportunity’ at its Tauranga campus.
This replica is based off the Mars Exploration Rover named Opportunity that was sent to Mars in January 2004 – originally expected to live for only 90 days on the barren planet, she ultimately explored Mars for nearly 15 years.
Following a presentation of the replica rover, there will be a screening of the documentary Good Night Oppy. The movie follows Opportunity, the Mars Exploration Rover affectionately dubbed ‘Oppy’ by her creators and scientists at NASA.
