Songs of the Universe, Cantando’s first concert of the 2024 season features the works of a variety of composers from around the world.

It takes its title from a piece by US-based Norwegian Ola Gjeilo and also includes works by Briton Michael Tippet; Welshman Karl Jenkins; David Hamilton from New Zealand and talented young local composer, Fergus Byett. This is truly a universal collection of accomplished composers exploring themes of human relationships with each other, with family, with nature, the land of one’s birth and with one’s spiritual home.

Joining Cantando for this concert is the award-winning Bel Suono choir and we look forward to providing a performance opportunity for these beautiful voices.

Cantando is also delighted to be reprising Te Ngākau, E, a work commissioned by the choir from Fergus Byett in 2023.
