Regulations for the Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDipMgmt)

  1. The Personal Programmes of Study Regulations apply in these regulations.

Admission

  1. Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma must have
    1. qualified for a bachelors degree of the University of Waikato, or a qualification considered by the Academic Board to be equivalent, and have completed study at an advanced level in the subject to be taken for the Postgraduate Diploma, or
    2. demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Academic Board that they have adequate training, experience and ability to proceed with the proposed programme, and
    3. satisfied the prerequisites for graduate study in the subject(s) being taken for the Postgraduate Diploma.
  1. In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, candidates who do not meet the requirements of section 2 of these regulations may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying papers the Academic Board may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently.

Requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma

  1. The normal minimum period of enrolment for completion of the Postgraduate Diploma is one year.
  2. Candidates must enrol in the Division of Management and follow an approved programme of study.
  3. Candidates must gain 120 points at 500 level or above.
  4. The Postgraduate Diploma will be endorsed in one of the following subjects:

Agribusiness
Business Analytics
Marketing1
Project Management
Supply Chain Managment

  1. Candidates must complete:
    1. 45 points from their chosen endorsement subject listed in section 7, as prescribed in the relevant Subject Regulations, and 
    2. 45 points from EXMBM511, EXMBM512, EXMBM513, EXMBM514, EXMBM521, EXMBM522, EXMBM523, EXMBM524 and EXMBM532
  2. Candidates may take up to 30 points from any other postgraduate subject.
  3. If a candidate fails a paper or papers (worth not more than 30 points in total), he or she may repeat the paper or papers or take an alternative paper or papers with the same total points on one occasion only. A candidate who fails a paper or papers worth more than 30 points in total will not be permitted to proceed with the Diploma.

Award of Honours

  1. The Postgraduate Diploma may be awarded with Distinction.

Variations

  1. The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Division or delegated authority may vary or waive these regulations in individual cases.

Notes:

  1. A  Postgraduate Certificate is not offered in this subject in 2025.
