Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts
Opened in 2001, the Academy is a purpose-built and award-winning performing arts and events centre with a confirmed reputation locally, nationally and internationally for the excellence of its facilities.
Box Office Information
The GAPA Box Office (located at the main reception desk in the Academy) is open weekdays from 9am - 4pm for ticket sales. Please note, payments can be taken by eftops or credit card (no cash and no paywave).

Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts
The Academy offers versatile event spaces, including two main theatres, two multi-functional studios, and a smaller mezzanine level lounge. The venue also houses a Gallery with a full annual programme of exhibitions in it's extensive glass-lined foyers.

Dr John Gallagher Concert Chamber
With its high ceiling, beautiful wooden wall panels and floors designed specifically for acoustic chamber music, this space has established a reputation as one of the most intimate and acoustically satisfying venues in the Southern Hemisphere.
Playhouse Theatre
Ideal for a wide range of events, the Playhouse is a flexible, flat floor theatre. Built with a full lighting rig, this multi-configurable space can be designed to suit any experience.
Te Whare Tāpere Iti
With beautiful native bush and lake views, Te Whare is an open floor studio space with 5 metre high ceiling-to-floor windows. Designed primarily as a kapahaka studio with sprung floors, this gorgeous space offers a unique experience for any event.
Dance Studio
This open studio space has been designed as a professional dance studio with a sprung floor, mirror wall and dance barre. Equipped with a lighting grid and black curtains this versatile space can be adapted to accommodate a wide range of events.
Upstairs Lounge
Situated on the first floor and overlooking the tree-lined University campus lake, this executive venue is ideal for more intimate and small-scale events.

GAPA Galleries
The Main Gallery and Foyer Galleries, located in the Academy, feature a diverse arts programme which shares a range of contemporary art from New Zealand artists. The exhibition programme also includes the display of artwork from the University collection.
