Regulations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Management (PGCertMgmt)
- The Personal Programmes of Study Regulations apply in these regulations.
Admission
-
- qualified for a bachelors degree of the University of Waikato or a qualification considered by the Academic Board to be equivalent, or
- demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Academic Board that they have adequate training, experience, and ability to proceed with the proposed programme, and
- satisfied the prerequisites for graduate study in the subject being taken for the Postgraduate Certificate.
- In exceptional circumstances, based on academic merit and relevant experience, candidates who do not meet the requirements of section 2 of these regulations may be considered for admission subject to the completion of any qualifying papers the Academic Board may prescribe which must be completed either prior to or concurrently.
Requirements for the Postgraduate Certificate
- The normal minimum period of enrolment for completion of the Postgraduate Certificate is one trimester.
- Candidates must enrol in a Division of Management and follow an approved programme of study.
- Candidates must gain 60 points at 500 level or above in one of the subjects listed in section 7.
- The Postgraduate Certificate will be endorsed in one of the following subjects:
Agribusiness
Business Analytics
Marketing1
Project Management
Supply Chain Managment
- Candidates must complete:
- 45 points from their chosen endorsement subject list in section 7, as presecribed in the relevant Subject Regulations, and
- 15 points from EXMBM511, EXMBM512, EXMBM513, EXMBM514, EXMBM521, EXMBM522, EXMBM523, EXMBM524 and EXMBM532.
- If a candidate fails a paper or papers (worth not more than 30 points in total), he or she may repeat the paper or papers or take an alternative paper or papers with the same total points on one occasion only. A candidate who fails a paper or papers worth more than 30 points in total will not be permitted to proceed with the Certificate.
Variations
- The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the relevant Division or the Dean of the Faculty of Māori and Indigenous Studies or delegated authority may vary or waive these regulations in individual cases.
Notes:
- A Postgraduate Certificate is not offered in this subject in 2025.
- This Postgraduate Certificate is available only for completion purposes.
